Erik Newton is partner at the law firm Heath-Newton, LLP. Mr. Newton serves on various advisory boards, including the board of the Journal of Law Economics, and Policy, an academic journal he founded during law school. Mr. Newton regularly lectures to diverse groups on the topics of marriage planning and asset protection.
Mr. Newton recently served on Attorney General Kamala Harris’ transition team in the Education and Truancy group, helping to craft education policy. Mr. Newton frequently volunteers his time both as a mentor and as an advisory board member with the Spark Program, a youth mentorship program based in the Bay Area.
Mr. Newton holds a B.S. in finance from George Mason University and a J.D. from George Mason University School of Law. Prior to practicing law, Mr. Newton ran several successful businesses as an events producer.

A graduate of UC Berkeley and Boston College Law School, Terrance Heath established his private practice in 2002. He has worked to build businesses, grow non-profit organizations worldwide, and support families with a commitment to personal fulfillment, community responsibility, and human rights.
Throughout his career, Terrance has made a point of providing legal services to all people. He served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Romania and received the Outstanding Volunteer in Public Service Award by the Bar Association of San Francisco. He has been a proud member of the Rotary Club of San Francisco since 2009.

Associate Attorney

Robert grew up in Palo Alto, California. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in history with honors from UC Berkeley, he accepted a graduate fellowship at the American University in Cairo, Egypt. Here, he furthered his interest in the Middle East, human rights, and gender studies. While in Cairo, Robert received his Master of Arts degree in Middle East Studies and served as a staff writer and editor of the program’s academic publication.
After his international experience, Robert attended the Boston College Law School and identified family law as his professional focus. He actively participated in the Lambda Law Students Association for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students and the Civil Litigation Clinic.
Before returning to the Bay Area, he interned with the District Attorney’s Office and Federal Public Defender’s Office in Boston as well as the District Attorney’s Office in New York City. Before to joining Heath-Newton, LLP, Robert practiced family law at Cornerstone Law Group and Heath Law Group. He counsels clients in all aspects of marital dissolution, child custody/visitation, and adoptions.

A native to the Bay Area, Alison Grcevich holds a J.D. from Golden Gate University School of Law and a B.A. in Communication from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Alison identified family law as her professional focus while in law school, and has been dedicated to the practice of family law throughout her career. Prior to joining Heath-Newton LLP, Alison practiced family law in Contra Costa County, and has served clients in Alameda, San Mateo and San Francisco counties. Currently, Alison counsels clients in all aspects of premarital agreements, marital dissolutions and child custody matters.

Jane was born in San Francisco and grew up in the Central Valley. Jane went to the East Coast for her education, graduating cum laude from Harvard College. Her undergraduate thesis was nominated for the Thomas T. Hoopes Prize for outstanding scholarly work. Pursuing a desire to do public interest work, Jane attended the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, receiving a Masters in Public Policy. Her Masters thesis received the Manny C. Carballo Memorial Prize for best thesis dealing with social policy issues. Jane completed her education on the East Coast at Boston University, where she received a Juris Doctor degree. After graduating from law school, Jane practiced in general civil litigation for five years in the Bay Area before starting her career in family law. During her time in the Bay Area, she has amassed extensive LGBT advocacy experience, including serving four years as a committee member of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Advisory Committee, San Francisco Human Rights Commission, serving on the board of the Harvey Milk LGBT Democratic Club and Freedom From Tobacco, an LGBT anti-smoking group. At Heath-Newton, LLP, Jane counsels clients in all types of family law matters.

Richard is a California native who earned a history degree (summa cum laude) from San Francisco State University, a law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and a Masters of Law in Taxation (with honors) from Golden Gate University. Prior to joining the Heath-Newton LLP, Richard practiced probate litigation, plaintiff’s personal injury and landlord-tenant law. Currently Richard’s primary practice areas are: (1) dissolution; (2) drafting and reviewing premarital agreements; (3) estate planning; (4) trust & probate administration and litigation; and (5) litigation relating to non-marital property division. Richard also has extensive experience serving the unique needs of the Bay Area’s LGBT community, including dissolution of Registered Domestic Partnerships, litigation and settlement involving non-marital partnerships, drafting of co-habitation agreements, and counseling clients on the challenges lesbian and gay clients face in the areas of estate planning and asset protection. In his spare time, Richard enjoys hiking and writing fiction and is currently working on a collection of short stories.
