GST has an estimated effect of improving the Ease of Doing Business Index and is expected to boost the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) by 1.5% to 2%.
  • The GST will reduce the cascading of taxes by implementing a full input tax credit scheme over the entire supply chain. The seamless availability of input tax credits behind products and services, at every step of the supply chain, will permit the operation of business organizations to become more efficient.
  • GST rates that are uniform will eliminate deception because they will reduce rate arbitrage between neighboring states, intra-state transactions, and inter-state transactions.
  • There will be an increased sense of support for the tax system if there is a common way to register taxpayers, return tax, establish a common tax base, have uniform formats for tax returns, and establish a common system of taking deliveries of goods or services along with timelines for each of these activities.
  • Input tax credit verification will be done online through GSTN for all online methods, such as applying for registration, paying taxes, filing returns, filing return claims, etc. Input tax credit applications will be handled online through GSTN.
