FSSAI registration is a legal requirement that is enforced to guarantee that manufactured food products are safe for consumers to consume. The Indian food authority issued it as a certificate of food safety. The Food Safety and Standards Act of 2006 established the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India as an independent body under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has mandated that food business operators and food businesses obtain the FSSAI License to ensure compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 regulations. Types of FSSAI Licenses:
Upon exceeding a certain turnover, a Food Business Operator (FBO) is required to obtain a food license. The size of the business and the type of business the operator of the food business is involved in determine the kind of food license that must be obtained. The application would be considered by the government authority only after the required documents have been submitted. The FSSAI License is available in three forms:
(1) Basic Registration with FSSAI:
Startups and small businesses with annual sales of less than Rs. To complete the FSSAI basic registration, 12 lakhs are required.
(2) State License from FSSAI:
Mid-sized businesses with annual revenues between Rs. 12 million rs. 20 billions.
(3) Central License from FSSAI:
Large businesses with annual revenues of more than Rs. The FSSAI Central License can only be obtained for a sum of 20 crores. In the event that large businesses are required to import or export food products or supply food products to government offices, they must obtain the FSSAI Central License.
After correctly submitting relevant FSSAI documents, businesses handling food or food products are required to obtain a FSSAI Registration or License. After the food quality and premise inspections have been completed, the food business will be eligible if the FSSAI license documents are checked and accurate information is provided.
Documents Are Required for FSSAI Registration:
The primary recipients of FSSAI Registration are food retailers or food business operators. In order to obtain the FSSAI License, they must submit the Documents. The following are the necessary documents for an FSSAI license:
- The Food Business Operator’s photo ID.
- Documents proving identity, such as a ration card, a department-issued ID, a passport, a PAN card, a senior citizen card, an Aadhar card, a driving license, or a voter ID card, as well as supporting documents like a health NOC and a No Objection Certificate issued by a municipality or panchayat.

Documents Required for a State FSSAI License:
- Completed and signed in duplicate by the owner, partner, or other authorized signatory on Form B.
- The blueprint or layout plan for the processing unit shows the area allotted by operation and the dimensions in meters and square meters. Only processing and manufacturing units are exempt from this requirement.
- The complete contact information and address of the list of directors, partners, and executive members of the society or trust.
- Names and lists of machinery and equipment, as well as the number, installed capacity, and horsepower used, are included. This is only required for manufacturing and processing facilities.
- Proof of identity and address from a government agency was issued to the proprietor, partner, director, or authorized signatory.
- List of the food categories that the company plans to produce. in the case of producers).
- Letter of authority with the manufacturer’s name and address, the alternative responsible person’s name, and the powers they have to help the officers with inspections, sample collection, packaging, and shipping (for manufacturers and processors).
- A reputable public health laboratory issued a chemical and bacterial analysis report for the water that would be used in food. Only processing and manufacturing facilities are required to do this.
- Evidence of possession of the property.
- Plan or certificate for managing food safety.
- In the case of cooperatives, a copy and certificate obtained under Coop-1861 or the Multi State Cooperative Act of 2002.
- (a) FSSAI Self-Declaration for Partnership, Affidavit of Proprietorship, Partnership Deed, or Memorandum, and Articles of Association for the establishment of the business (optional).
- Raw material source for meat processing facilities.
- A pesticide residues report from a reputable public health laboratory must be produced for units that produce packaged drinking water, packaged mineral water, and/or carbonated water.
- (a) Declaration and Undertaking System Plan or Certificate, or a copy of the manufacturer’s license (only required for re-labelers and repackers).
- In the case of processing milk and milk products, the company is required to produce a milk procurement plan or source of milk, which includes the precise location of milk collection centers.
- Certificate from the Tourism Ministry.
- Certificate of No Objection (NOC) from the municipality or other local body.
- Recall the plan whenever necessary.
- Form IX, which includes the Board Resolution and a company’s nomination of individuals,
- self-declaration of the number of vehicles for transporters.
- The declaration form, either from Himachal Pradesh or Delhi.
